Interfaith solidarity with Muslims in Sarasota

On September 11 a Bradenton-Sarasota interfaith group will hold a solidarity service to express ecumenical support for our Muslim brothers and sisters, at the First Presbyterian Church in Sarasota. Cosponsors include Friends, Mennonites, Muslims, Jews, Catholics, and many Protestant congregations. We will express our unified disgust at the burning of the Qu'ran by the Dove Church in Gainesville, sorrow that so many American "leaders" have opposed the building of the Muslim center in New York City, and our joint regret at the increase in anti-Muslim speeches and attacks now occurring in various parts of the country. We are united in our joint commitment to return amity and mutual respect to relations among faith groups throughout our nation.
