At Peace Camp we are a multi-cultural gathering of youth and adults who come together to find ways in which our lives can make a difference. We learn the joy and benefit of serving each other in order to enrich our week-long Peace Camp community and our lifelong global community. We learn to use creative nonviolent methods to achieve justice and equity as an outcome of the way we live our lives.

Peace Camp activities include, drama & entertainment, arts & crafts, swimming & canoeing, sports & cooperative games, and interactive workshops on an assortment of exciting and important topics. At previous camps we have built birdhouses, learned bicycle repair, explored bat ecology and wildlife care. We learn conflict resolution skills, peer mediation and consensus decision-making.

GOALS OF PEACE CAMP

  • To create a cooperative community based on mutual respect
  • To develop skills for conflict resolution
  • To experience the inter-connectedness of all living things
  • To appreciate Earth’s natural cycles
  • To inspire each other to make positive changes in our world

THE FACILITIES

Both camps are held at our Teaching Farm in Hampton, 18 miles Northeast of Gainesville. We will be tent camping under the stars in a pecan grove, surrounded by pine forest and joined by a wealth of wildlife. Our Peace Education Center offers an escape from the heat, a large kitchen, hot showers, and a meeting hall for our dance and talent-less show.

We will swim and canoe in nearby lakes, do gardening, and make landscape pavers, go tubing down the Ichetucknee River, build a picnic table, explore the pine forest, and much, much more.

THE CAMPS

Panther Camp

This camp is geared toward youth ages 15 to 20. Youth who attend this camp may have the opportunity to volunteer as counselors for the younger camp.
