What can we do about the US Senate?

Are you concerned with the action - or inaction - of the US Senate as a group?  I believe their political wrangling has reached the level of dangerous irresponsibility.  How can important policy work get done when our elected officials have their eyes fixed on the next election, polls, and campaign contributions?  When does the nations business come first?

Any ideas on what the FCPJ can do to shake things up and provoke some positive action to save our planet?
